Future Architecture

The future is an “aggrandized glimmer” of the current data-driven society. It spreads across many layers and is more dynamic than ever. Data being one of the largest outcomes of the 21st century is going to conduct and dominate billions of lives and the echoing circumstances.

Future architecture is something we all wonder of directly or indirectly. We see future architecture in movies and cartoons like in Doraemon and marvel movies. They portray the architecture of the future in a very different way. But from an architect's perspective future of architecture is totally different.

The future of architecture is not about doing extraordinary like colonizing the entire planets in the galaxy. But it’s about building a better place around us. We might bring some architectural drift making people delirious about the future built environment on earth. The creation of smart cities is necessary to continue providing people with safe, comfortable, and affordable places to live, cities must incorporate techniques and technologies to bring them into the future. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing the advances that will come to my city in the near future.

These days the traditional spatial concepts are vanishing. Nowadays people want to experience modern luxury with innovative technology. The future architecture practice is becoming increasingly decentralized and that’s a response to a generational shift in a value-based society.

The role of architects in the future of architecture will be different from now and future. There will be collaborative designs, which means working on intricate projects require knowledge in different fields. And it will be reasonable for expert agents of specialists from various fields will eliminate many job profiles currently existing in the architecture and construction field. Recently the American Institute of Architects gathered 60 people for one day to design 10 models for the future of the architectural practice. According to them, we are at a point in the field I think we need to start collaborating and looking outside of what our silos are.

Smart cities are evolving. It’s a key factor in the consumption of materials and resources cautiously. As the population is increasing day by day and resources are becoming scarcer, the efficient usage of materials becomes more important. The efficient usage of energy has led to green infrastructure. The cities are being interconnected, so in the near future, the sensors will multiply until they monitor everything from streetlights and trashcans to road conditions. The implementation of sensors and various aspects of infrastructure helps in maximizing the efficiency of energy consumption.
Architecture is a vital thread connecting the dots of worldly the venture will certainly be revolving around this devised intelligence system. This illuminates the fact those designers, however, are constantly deluded with enormous data that are lost among conventional iterations which are often forgotten in decision making.

Big Data which is excessively analyzed and computed information pertaining to human interaction and behavior rightly serves as a unified information solution. It is designed to handle the ingestion, process, and analysis of the data that is too large or complex for the traditional database system. The existing growth of information has to be stored, organized, and made accessible with the aid of computers for reasoning and regaining the corrected information to accomplish the target adaptation, careful examination of minute details, and thus execute a space.

Built on and integrating with big data the cities of the future are becoming a realization today. The integration of big data and interconnected technology along with increasing manpower will lead to the necessary creation of smart cities. Smart cities are evolving and it plays a key role in the consumption of materials and resources cautiously. With the explosion of population and scarcity of resources, efficient usage of materials is the obligation to be fulfilled urgently. Architect’s need to expand their choices and access advantageous alternatives in selecting building materials. There will not be prolonged construction. Dr. Jose Rubio Avalos from UMSNH of Morelia has created a cement that has the ability to absorb and irradiate light. With this new light-generating cement the potential use can be a significant feature. Energy usage is low as the cement can be created at room temperature. The cities will be built as we plug and play. So, in the near future, the sensors will multiply until they monitor everything from streetlights and trash cans to road conditions. By supervising all the elements, better functional spaces can be created.
The information pertaining to all of this for both personal and public spaces is collected from the big data. Big data can help in designing a structure with an element as shells in the seashore, by data we can explore the structure and mechanisms adopted by the shell and implement the same in designing a structure.
Big data will be changing the execution system of architecture. The data demanded will go beyond sketches and drawing sets to the symbolic relationship of the structural cost and span of construction. In fact responses on sustainability, climate changes have to be stipulated by the building itself. The data is constantly changing and so is the change in the output. The data warehouses must be regularly updated. The building which visually looks the same has to undergo a rethink regarding entourage, spacing, technology adapted, etc. This also means that the data should come from a responsible source. Questions on hiring a data scientist for individual projects will be raised. Implying that architecture is constantly under surveillance.

Big data has influenced the industry drastically; it's changing others with it. And because of this, more and more people want buildings that can provide information and big stores of data. Companies are asking for data reports to improve the performance of their assets, performance in the market, and many more. The urge for a better world will make us consider the necessities of an individual attributing to humankind, to break the barrier of futile mass production.
